Currently, Vietnam has more than 4,000 enterprises registered to operate in the logistics industry, of which 89% are domestic enterprises, 10% are joint venture enterprises and 1% are foreign enterprises. Most domestic enterprises are small and medium sized and account for only about 20% of the total market revenue. In which, there are more than 3,000 enterprises providing international sea transportation services. However, the number of Vietnamese Logisitcs enterprises that are eligible to issue standard bills of lading directly when providing sea freight services to North America is not much.

Most of the logistics and freight forwarders providing international shipping services on the US route are joint ventures and foreign enterprises with a global office system, so they have many advantages in signing contracts with customers. shipping lines are licensed to operate by the US Federal Maritime Commission - Federal Maritime Committee (FMC) for shipping intermediaries - Ocean Transportation Intermediaries - OTI of parent companies (FMC License).

In order to sign direct US contracts with shipping lines and issue bills of lading, declare AMS directly, Vietnamese logistics enterprises need to provide shipping lines with FMC License number, in order to obtain FMC License. businesses must provide OTI bond.

FMC's regulations related to container shipping to the US are very strict, requiring a thorough understanding of local regulations and professionalism to avoid the risk of taxes, fees, and fines at the place of delivery. as well as transfer points.

The United States is a country with very strict policies, a diverse legal system, especially for imports, protecting the interests of their businesses and logistics chains. The United States has many regulations, including federal law, and subcommittee (each has different rules). Therefore, Vietnamese enterprises need to strengthen their capacity, system understanding, and be proactive in exporting.
